Counter-tenor: Andrew O’Sullivan

“The concert was a powerful and moving experience. From the first bar, we were enthralled – the antiphonal choirs came over brilliantly. Such precision! Your two principal “players” (Evangelist and Christus) were superb – especially Christus, singing without a score and almost semi-staging his part. The instrumental playing was an absolute joy – we were particularly taken by the two solo fiddle players. Thank you all for a very special evening.”
“Was one of the most memorable, musical and moving evenings. Thank you all, chorus, soloists, musicians and continuo. I can’t say enough.”
“Great to see the audience filling the nave; I’m sure it helps to bring the best out of the performers.“
“As a great work it has long been a special favourite of mine. Years ago I bought a recording of it on LP records, sung in German by a German choir- a critic writing in the Gramophone magazine described the performance as ‘erratic but inspired!’ In relation to your performance I would omit the ‘erratic’ adverb and settle simply for the ‘inspired’ description. It was really very uplifting.”
“Another brilliant concert by Exeter Chamber Choir.”
“Superb performances by the Evangelist and Christus: they told the story so well and were ably supported by soloists from the choir.”
