Celebrating the beauty of our own world, above and beyond, HEAVEN & EARTH provides the inspiration for a highly varied programme of choral works, including Vaughan Williams’s rousing “Let all the World in Every Corner Sing”, Harris’s glorious and expansive piece for double choir “Faire is the Heaven” and the simple yet hauntingly emotional “Gaelic Blessing” by John Rutter.
We will also be giving the first performance of a beautiful new work, by local composer Nigel Walsh, “My name is Wisdom” a choral song for solo soprano and double choir written especially for the Exeter Chamber Choir.
The programme features soloists in several individual songs, such as “Where Corals Lie” from Elgar’s “Sea Pictures”, and it concludes with a group of lighter numbers, including Robert Prizeman’s “Song of Life” and “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door” arranged by conductor Andrew Daldorph.
