Bellini - San Marco, Venice

Baroque-tober: The Venice Connection at Buckfast Abbey

A Baroque feast with music either written in Venice or connected to Venice.

The concert will be accompanied by our conductor, Andrew Daldorph, on the organ with a string quartet.

Vivaldi’s Magnificat is just as interesting as his famous Gloria but less well known and the wonderful Schütz setting of O Bone Jesu in 7 parts is included as he studied in Venice as a young man under Giovanni Gabrieli. Monteverdi was Gabrieli’s successor in Venice in 1612 and the choir will sing two celebrated motets by him;  Psalm 117, Laudate Dominum omnes gentes and Christe, Adoramus te.

Tickets are £12, and £6 for full-time students and accompanied children under 16.

Tickets are available in advance from Exeter Chamber Choir:
